U.S. Patents for Cast Metal Cookware
Invention and Design

Patent Drawing. As the production of cast iron hollow ware progressed from a local to a regional to a nationwide enterprise and beyond, design and innovation became all-important. Manufacturers sought to differentiate their products from the competition through improved features and benefits, and would protect their designs and inventions via patent registration. Listed here are several patents relating to cast metal cookware and its manufacture.

Names in parentheses following each are the actual inventors or designers who assigned rights to the various manufacturing companies. Patents not specifically assigned to a named manufacturing company are grouped in the "Other" category. Documents numbered "USnnnn" are original patents, "USREnnnn" are re-issues, and "USDnnnn" are design patents.

Thanks to Steve Stephens for sharing his compiled listing of patents for inclusion in this database.
