Hi from NJ. I have been toying with the idea of good cast iron since I started blackening my striped bass catch many moons ago.
To make a long story short, I purchased a brand new Banjamin & Medwin 3 piece skillet set, seasoned them properly and got pretty good service out of them for a long time (probably too long).
Suddenly for whatever reason I decided I wanted a real set of CI. For a few weeks I partook in the ebay scene and researched each piece I found.
I finally decided to narrow my search to Griswold. I found a nice set of 5 skillets #9,#8,#6,#5 and #3 in a nice neat package. They are the large EPU block letters and have been completely restored and seasoned. I paid what I considered a fair price ($190 + shipping), while I am sure you folks may disagree ( I'd actually like to hear your opinions on it).
I started using them the minute I got them, for dinner last night I made a "skillet breakfast" for myself. And tonight I am cooking up a nice shrimp recipe I have found.
All that being said, I have already learned a ton here before I even registered, I appreciate the knowledge you folks put out there and someday I hope I can be a contributor.
Lovin my Griswolds !!:icon_thumbsup:
