Removing plating

My Griswold #4 is plated, nickel or chrome. It doesn't affect the usability any, and I didn't envision finding another #4 large logo without being gouged on ebay. But just so it'll match the others in the set, is there a way to dechrome or unplate it down to the bare iron?

There are methods to remove plating from cast iron cookware, but they are apparently best left to professionals. It is my understanding, at least on Griswold plated pieces, that surfaces otherwise left unpolished on bare iron pieces were polished prior to plating. As such, if plating were to be removed, even in a non-destructive manner from such pieces, they would still not be exactly the same as pieces not plated to begin with.
