Hello All;
I have been cooking with Cast iron for years, but am enthused about the actual cast iron dutch ovens, fry pans baking pans, etc. and all related material. I have started researching the pans we already have had for years, in the past they were just good cooking utensils. Not anymore...
Speaking of cast iron, I recently purchased a CI fry pan with a 'maple leaf' on the bottom, with the word skillet and 12, and 12 on the top of the handle. I will try and attach a couple pics of the pan.
I have not found any info on this piece, if anyone has knowledge of this foundry or casting company, etc. I would appreciate a shout.

The obvious guess would be Canadian, but even Canadian pieces I am aware of have manufacturer names or trademarks on them. Although raised numbers on handle tops are usually associated with older pans, and raised markings on the bottoms of pieces quickly fell out of favor due to wear issues, I'd still say this piece is not all that old. The inset heat ring and handle design, looking at the additional auction photos, also tend to bear out that assumption.
 
That is a mystery skillet to me. I agree that it does not look too old. Carlsbad, CA huh? My dad and sis live there and I used to find a few good pieces of iron in the 'old' Carlsbad back in the 1980s.
 
I just purchased that same skillet yesterday! I live in Canada, but I can't find any info on it, did you manage to find out anything about these skillets?
