My name is Patrick and I am a retired Executive Chef. I grew up in Montana where my Grandmother worked as a cook on early Dude Ranches. All she used was cast iron and I've used it all my life.

I found this site via a Google search for information about some of my cast iron. I bought a 13 piece collection from an Estate about ten years ago and am very interested in collecting more and learning more.

Your best bet is to get the two iron cookware "textbooks" and start studying:

These are what collectors call the Blue Book and Red Book. Well worth the price. There are other books but these are the ones most collectors have. Buy blue one first if you only want one but the red will be needed too.
