Hey all ! I'm a university student from San Antonio . Just getting in the cast iron game after cooking in my 10'' lodge that I got! Currently trying to scout for more. My first vintage piece was this bsr, but I can't get anymore info on when it was made. Does anyone know? Sadly it's cracked, but it was my first piece and found at goodwill for only $3

Welcome. The BSR Red Mountain series was made from the 1930s until around 1966 when they started converting to DISAMATIC automated production. They changed the brand from Red Mountain to Century in 1957 but they used the exact same patterns, so the skillets are indistinguishable pre/post brand change, until the DISA conversion required new patterns. So that one looks like it's from anywhere in that timeframe, can't get more specific.

I could be wrong (often am but never in doubt) But I believe the hand cast ones had much larger pour spouts. When they went to DISA , In the 1950's, the pour spouts were much smaller.

It's a #5. The spouts would not be all that large on a pan that size. Note also the variation in thickness of the righthand spout vs. the left. It's not DISA made.
