Not a collector, just a long time user of cast iron. Rarely used it during my career in the restaurant industry, only used it to make roux there, but a skillet is always on the range at home ready for burgers, bacon, steaks, even popcorn. I found this site while researching the origin of a 12in single handle dutch oven with legs that was my grandfathers camping cooker. He made biscuits in it, fried fish, squirrel, potatoes, hush puppies and anything else we might have come across on float trips in southeast MO. I use it to make roux at home and it has a place of honor on the fireplace hearth. I look forward to learning more about using and caring for cast iron here.

Welcome to the forum,
Lots of information here to read up on and at times some missing puzzle pieces of some of the older stuff.

Welcome to the forum. I love it when people talk about having cast iron that was passed down from family members. It's awesome that you can connect such amazing memories to it. I have quite a few pieces, but always wish that even just one had been a part of my family's past.
