As a retired Marine, I have been using cast iron all my life. The "bug" bit me a couple of years ago, and now I'm in hot pursuit of anything collectable. I collect, but also use every piece I restore. Currently I have about a dozen pieces including an old pristine Erie and a few pieces of Wagner Ware- Sidney O. I'm on the hunt for some Griswold pieces to add to my collection. I have a number of pieces that are really beautiful that I have restored, but they have no markings on them. I'm sure this forum will be a great place to further my knowledge about CI. Thanks for accepting me as a member and I hope that in the future I have some of my own "secrets" to pass on and share with other members. It's a pleasure to be here!

Welcome, Joe! If you post some pictures of your unmarked skillets, I'm sure somebody around here can identify them for you. Also, look under the section on identifying unmarked cast iron.

Welcome. I was bitten by the same bug about 9 mos ago and have enjoyed every minute since then. I, too, like to cook with the pieces that I am able to acquire and restore. In the process I think I've even made my mother in law jealous (a feeling that is too good to explain)...

I hope you enjoy this hobby as much as I have. We would love to see some pics of your proudest projects.

Ps I offer a sincere thank you for your service.

Welcome Mike!

The Western Museum has all sorts of wonderful art - just imagine the pioneers (AKA invaders) coming along with their cast iron pots....

Gads, I must have coffee in my system before writing.

Welcome Joe!

Its been a while since I've been in your area, but if I remember correctly, there are a bunch of great spots to find CI between you and the KS border along I-35. A few south towards TX too. Good hunting!
