Enjoying the Iron

Howdy all,

I am really enjoying the cast iron of yesteryear. I was looking at some other interests online and some of them mentioned the fact that today's cast iron won't be as great as my grandmother's cast iron. I started out with this seed in my brain, and set to hunting out some good iron at the local junk store, and found a couple of items. An unrecognizable Wagner for a few bucks and a Griswold with the smaller logo for a bit more. Setup a modest small pan electrolysis dip in a five gallon bucket and have since been hooked. (found some neat items just last weekend at a flea market.) The Wagner, although a little rough and pitted, is one of my favorite cookers.

Hence the reason I found this glorious site! I hope to post some before and after photos and hopefully use the expertise of the cast iron community to help ID some older "mystery" iron. Knowing the history is part of the fun experience in this hobby, and I really enjoy the idea of bringing back to life something long forgotten.

Later Days,

Wade
