cast iron springerle mold

I got this a while back but I don't think I posted it here.
my mother in law makes many dozens of springerle cookies as a church fund raiser every year so we always keep an eye out for the old hand carved wooden springerle molds.. and ran across this at an antique show. I've never seen a cast iron one before.

Just curious, but how can you tell who made it? I tottaly lost on CI like this.
I don't think I'll ever be able to determine who made this. I'm not even sure if its really old or relatively new... It could have been made in germany or by or for a german immigrant to the US... unless I can dig up some old paper, like a price list or catalog that listed these I doubt I will ever know any more about it than I do now.

oddly enough, I picked up an older book called 'Antique Iron identification and values' from 1984... and updated in 1989... it has a picture of this exact springerle mold and says that theirs is marked Wagner Ware Sidney O on the back. I have no idea if that is correct... but the picture in their book is the exact same designs as the one I have.
