Those known as SMS pans have inset heat rings, no raised markings on the undersides of handles, and no bottom gate marks. Distinct handle reinforcement pads and ribs are common to many skillets of the late 19th and early 20th century. It would be a mistake to try to attribute them to a particular maker.
