“Wagner arc / Sidney straight

Came across a new piece with the “Wagner” arch and “Sidney” straight. O in the middle. I’ve mostly seen these with a Sidney, rather than the “Sidney”.

Does anyone know what might account for this small difference in trademark?

A couple of possibilities, both conjecture. Could be a pattern the maker just zoned out and added quotation marks where not indicated. Could be a Wagner pattern modified to be a Sidney pattern (when Wagner owned the Sidney Hollowware foundry) then back again, and the quotes were either not filled in or the filler material eroded. In either case, there must be more of them, as inscribed markings are in the pattern.
