Skillet Color

Hello,
Quick question concerning color. I found an old pan that needed restored. It was pretty bad, so, I blasted it down to bare metal then seasoned it like other pans, 400-450 degree's for an hour using olive oil. Did this twice. This was the first time I have blasted a pan though.
Please take a look at the pic and tell me if this color is common or if I may have done something wrong. I have not seen this color before.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Sandblasting is a dirty word in cast iron collecting circles. Hopefully it will be the last pan you use it on. The color is not unusual. Not enough carbonization leaves the pan a bronze color. More coats or usage, and more carbon residue, either from the oil or cooked food, will darken it over time.

Thank you for the quick response and information. Yeah, I wasn't to sure about the blasting but thought I would give it a try. It will be the last time. Thanks again.

Dont blast another one unless its cracked or destroyed. It wont do the skillet any good.
