hi all I'm new to collecting and I've started buying everything I can and I've gained a lot of knowledge from this site already so thanks! I did however recently pick up a hand hammered pan that I cant find any info on...can any of you help by looking at these pictures?
Appears to be wrought iron, as opposed to cast. At least the handle is, anyway. If the pan part is cast, the hammering would have been cast in rather than hand hammered.
If the pan part is cast, there would be artifacts like gate or sprue marks, the point where excess iron from the mold would have been broken or ground off.
