Crack or not?

Hello, I have what I think is a Blacklock skillet. It this a repaired crack or not? If it is, was it done at the factory? How does it hurt the value?

My guess is that you have a recast made from a cracked repaired skillet. The foundry would not have repaired a defective piece, but rather would have just thrown it back in the cupola and remelted it.

Just as Doug wrote.

I have had a few early pieces that have ghost marks of damaged pieces and some with repairs that were used as patterns for a new mold.

Here are 2 of them.

I have few users that have small hairline cracks. If it doesnt leak, Id use them or lose them!

The 3 pieces shown do not have cracks at all. The original piece that was used as a pattern for the mold had the cracks and or repairs only. The new piece that was made from the mold only has the ghost marks of the cracks and or repairs. Low budget foundry comes to mind.
