Bulge pot restored

Found this 2 1/2 gallon bulge pot at a local shop a little while back. The guy at the counter asked why I wanted that rusty old thing when he had some much nicer ones for sale. I just smiled and said that I enjoyed cleaning them up. I also enjoy paying almost $100 less than what he charges for the “much nicer” ones. Funny thing, this modern Lodge #8 lid fits like it was made for it.

Well, that turned out really nice.
I understand why you bought the rusty one and accepted the challenge of the restore.
I suggest you take it back to show this guy why you wanted the "project pot".

Yeah, this guy's prices are a little high anyway even for the "project pieces", I don't want to give him any ideas about raising them even more. I really need to stop picking up these kettles, but when I see one like this I just can't resist. By the way, they make great popcorn poppers. You don't need to shake them at all, the round bottom keeps the unpopped kernels in the hot oil and the popped kernels out of it. Give it a try.

I was thinking of getting a large one like this, to use as an ash bucket in the winter, It could be semi rusty/ bad shape, for what I would use it for. Nice pot by the way!

I have two similar pots both with lids that need cleaned up. Both in good condition. One round bottom and one flat bottom. Bottom gate marks with legs on both. Nice job on your for sure. I might have to clean mine up now but that will wait for winter too. Good excuse not to go out in the cold.
