Just wanted to share my first buy. Got it for 33 dollars and I would love to know what you guys think. Would also like some input on restoring. The hardwear store i go to has rooto which say concentrated sulfuric acid on the bottle. Is that the same as lye?
Lye is sodium hydroxide, and you want a product which states 100% of that chemical. There may be another Rooto product which has sulfuric in it, but is not the one to use. The correct one is a crystal product, in a 1 lb. jar.
Ok thanks. I do see that ace hardwear sells crystal lye. Although it seems to come in a 12 pack for $53. They should have singles in the store though I would hope.
Nice slant logo. If you plan on setting up a lye tank PLEASE REMEMBER...ALWAYS add the lye TO the water...NEVER water TO the lye. If you do a violent chemical reaction may occur which could possibly cause serious injury. All in all, it's pretty safe though. Best way to remove all the crud (aka other folks seasoning).
