Howdy everyone. I was drawn to this site after researching for the history of some family skillets. I grew up in eastern Ky and was raised on fresh garden food cooked in old iron skillets. To me, that is the only way to cook or bake cornbread.
I'm on the other side, California, but from about the time I was 4 or 5, my Mother had a garden, first small, then large. We've always had fresh vegetables/fruit. Hell, half the time, we'd just wander out there, pick something, and just eat it right there in the garden. Good stuff.
