Thank you for allowing me to join your group. I have a piece of cookware that I am trying to indentify. I inherited it from my grandmother. I have attached photos that I have taken. The bottom of the pot says VITAMIN RETAINING COOKWARE COMPANY PHILADELPHIA PA.

Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
J Rohmeyer

First off, welcome.

I don't know how much help you're going to get here being as your piece appears to be aluminum, but many of us also collect other weird kitchenware. My side hobby is vintage utensils (Spatulas, ladles, etc).

Do you have photos of the logo? or ANY information as to when she got it?

What does it do? Is it like some sort of steamer?

Looks like some kind of aluminum combo cooker. Aluminum cookware was promoted as being "waterless". The tightness of the seal between lid and pot meant less escape of moisture from food, so the need for added liquid was reduced. Nutritional elements of foods were therefore not as likely to be lost into an excess of cooking liquid.
