Hi,

I've always loved cast iron cooking and as I get older, I'm loving it even more. I am ashamed to say that I have a few too many pieces but love every one of them.

Today I came across a brand that I've not heard of before. It's a CRESCENT FD'Y CO. OZARK ST. LOUIS, MO. and has a #8 on it and also the lid is like a bee hive. Strange I know. I bought it for $8 and hope I didn't get stuck since I've never heard of the brand before.

I'm happy to be a part of the cast iron forum. I think it's pretty cool.

Thanks again,

Nancy

Hi Bonnie,

It did come with a lid. It's a strange looking lid and it has the poor spouts covering the pan also. I've not seen anything like it before but then again, I'm not a big time collector, I just love cast iron. At least I didn't spend much on it. I've never had one of the Crescent but am anxious to give it a try. It's ready to use.

Is that a skillet or a dutch oven? Ozark made some very good CI and I think it is equal to any other makers of that era.

If you want to double, triple or quadruple your money just let me know:)

Hi Jack,

It's a tall skillet with a handle and two pour spouts. It's not as shallow as most cast iron skillets. But not a Dutch oven either. You could use it as that. I'm sure a whole chicken would fit in it comfortably.

Not sure about selling it, I have to give it a few rounds of cooking and see how I like it. I know I'll love the smooth surface on the bottom unlike the new stuff you get today. The lid has 258L stamped in it and straight on the other inside is stamped with a 3. ????

So, I did OK on it? Here's a picture of it. Isn't she pretty!!!

What a nice looking chicken fryer with lid, all for $8.00 :icon_thumbsup:

You are right, better than the new stuff that you get today. Also for less $$.

Thanks Jeff, I wondered if it was a chicken fryer. I know a whole chicken could sit in it comfortable along with a few veggies for a roasted chicken meal.
