Hello and thanks for letting my join, just recently started the quest and adventure into cast iron. Grew up camp cooking in the scouts so started looking to buy a DO. I like the fact the something can be old and collectable but still useful and not just to look at. Not saying that I wont just look at them.

Welcome, and you're right, one of the best things about cast iron cookware is that you can not just collect to look at but actually use them. Sometime when I am cooking in one of my really old pans I think about all the people who have held that handle and the meals that have cooked on that same surface.
I have an old Wagner that was my grandmothers. It has some "gunk" on the sides that I refuse to clean off because it is part of her. She is with me every time I use it.
Again, welcome and jump right in, the water is fine. Well, there may be a shark or two, but just ignore them and have fun.:-D
