Good to be here! Growing up I always admired the 2 cast iron pieces that my mother had sitting on the fireplace. Now that Im grown, she decided to give them to me. They originally belonged to my granddad. I never got a chance to meet him because he passed on a few months before I was born. Ive got a kettle with a wire handle and a lid with a 2 raised rings on it. The lid is on swivel and there is an 8 stamped on the spout. There is also a WE stamped on the bottom of the kettle. Ive also got a bean pot with a wire handle and 3 legs with an 8 also stamped on the bottom. I would really appreciate some insight on these 2 pieces. :icon_thumbsup:

Your tea kettle sounds older. There were many makers, and unfortunately, the letters like those on the bottom are rarely if ever the manufacturer's, instead more likely those of the molder, marking the pieces he made to keep track of his daily production. The other piece sounds more like a camp oven missing its lid. Probably a Lodge. If you have a photo hosting account you can upload pics of your items to and link to them in a post, they can go a long way towards making identifications (when possible).
