Help identifying an old skillet with burn marks?

Found this at the goodwill fairly cheap. Was really just wondering how it acquired the crater markings on the bottom. I am also curious if there is a way to identify the maker and approximate year from the few markings or characteristics of the handle and heat ring. It has a raised number 8 on the handle and I don’t know what the raised marking on the bottom of the pan says or means. It measures about 9 3/4” wide and is about 10 3/4” spout to spout. It’s about 1 3/4” high with a length of about 14 5/8” to handle. Is there a term for the condition of the bottom and would this trait be desirable to anyone? The bottom is flat enough to use on a stove, but I was guessing that it spent a lot of time on coals.
Any information is appreciated. Thanks for reading and I’ll attach some pictures.

If it was marked as to maker, we'll never know now. The pitting is from usage over a sulfur-containing heat source like coal. Sulfuric acid is produced and it softens and deforms the metal. It does have some of the characteristics that some would like to hope would be Blacklock, the predecessor to Lodge.

Thanks, I was hoping someone might recognize the marking on the back. I can't tell if it is maybe an H or W or M? But thought that someone might have the same marking with more information.

That mark was added by the foundryman who cast that particular pan, so not indicative of the manufacturer.
