Hello from northeast Alabama!!!!

I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I remember my mother and grandmother cooking with cast iron many years ago. I now have four cast iron skillets that they owned. Only one has a name on it. It is a Wagner Ware #3 Sidney -O- 1053I. I am seasoning that one and a larger one as I type this. The only markings on the larger one is 7 D at the 6 o'clock position on the bottom. I believe this may be a BSR because the handle is not flat on the bottom but instead has the raised angle extending from the exterior skillet side up to the hole in the handle. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate hearing from you.
The other two I will post about after I get them cleaned up so that I can see better. The little Wagner I think will make a nice little egg pan. I did the first round of seasoning last night and am almost completed with the second round. I have been reading and learning but there's so much more to learn. I look forward to chatting with you all and learning more.

Thanks very much Jack for the welcome and the link. I checked it out earlier this afternoon and it is a good link with lots of info as you said. I will be going back to that site for more reading, probably after work tomorrow. Give me a shout anytime.

Rick

Hello Rick and welcome,

The #7 you described is almost definitely BSR. I see lots of it here in Texas and I am an avid fan. Great users.

Check out this site: http://www.modemac.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl/Birmingham_Stove_and_Range

It probably has a picture of your pan and some fantastic information.

Jack

Thanks for the welcome. I agree with your opinion. The Wagner is my favorite out of the four that I have so far.

Welcome Rick and you're off to a good start. Yes, the Wagner is a good little pan but that's just my opinion :D
