What a great resource this website and accompanying forum are to cast-iron enthusiasts. I stumbled upon this website when seeking out seasoning information on the web about a week ago. I have since ID'd most everything in my possession and have read many articles. My CI IQ has been much improved as of late!
I was more or less raised on cast iron and have been a user my entire adult life. Now my mother and step-dad on the other hand were the collectors and that is how I was introduced. When as a boy I would be seeking out whatever it was that caught my interest at flea markets, my mom and step-dad would be searching for cast iron. They were casual collectors and used every last piece they procured. Nothing was ever sold. When I struck out on my own, mom generously gifted me my first piece upon which I've been cooking my own meals for coming up on 40 years now.
