Hello from central Maine

I've been interested in cast iron anything for many years and live in a target rich area. The nearby city of Bangor Maine had two turn of nineteenth century foundries: Wood & Bishop (makers of Clarion stoves) and Noyes & Nutter (maker of Kineo stoves). I partially heat with a Glenwood E cookstove and an Ideal Clarion parlor stove and have several others as works in progress. Cookware caught my attention earlier this year and I've been able to accumulate a quantity, with a few interesting pieces. I've learned so much by visiting this site and hope to get some info on specific pieces from this group's combined intellect. Plus, it'll be great to interact with people who I know will understand me! I'm not computer literate, so people will have to bear with me.

Welcome to the forum MikeZ. Go take some photos of your finds, put a log on the fire pull up a chair and feed us some eye candy. Target rich area, don't let those on the West coast know any more. :o I have spent a lot of time in Maine, from climbing Mt Katahdin, built a home over by Dover-Foxcroft, hunted the paper mill lands all around Millinocket, for deer not cast iron. I have been to every antique and junk shop up and down Rt 1. Picked every barn that I can get into, the list just goes on.
I had a # 11 style Wood & Bishop muffin pan, it found a new home that is me buying selling and hoarding.

Yup, I like Maine.

Hey, thanks for the words of welcome.

I hope to be submitting a photo or two as to IDing some pieces, as well as a series of photos of my stuff. But first, we need to actually take the pictures!

So, you definitely have been to Maine. I've met many people who say they've been here, only to find they've been to Kittery or Old Orchard Beach. Get out on the Golden Rd in Millinocket and now you're saying something…

We have a house at Cape Cod and we're both originally from Connecticut, so we travel out of state regularly. But with the length of the trip and the fact we can never leave early, either coming or going, we generally never have the time to take Rte.1 and stop and shop. But, we finally visited the Arundel flea market this summer and I was pleased. It's going to be a regular stop from now on. Understanding that I'm the only one that gets excited about this and my wife generally just suffers me my interests.

The Treasures and Trash Barn in Searsport has a lot of various kinds of iron, but his prices are pretty high. Nearly all my finds are yard sales or flea markets. So many people have stuff they use/have used at "camp".

Well, thanks again and I'll be submitting some stuff in a while.

Have been going to Maine for as long as I can remember. We used to stop at Bobs on Rt 1 for some GOOD red shell (cooked) rolls HAHA! Then drive up to Portland to pick up my GF getting in to port on an Esso oil tanker.
"Golden Rd in Millinocket" That is where you have miles of logs 16' high on both sides of the road.

Treasures and Trash Barn in Searsport, He does not work with you on the price much, we have been there.
Try this, as I have been to all his shops. Spent and made lot of money with him. Good prices Good stuff, real good stuff.

Have you been to the Big Chicken Barn, outside Ellsworth, it is on our list to hit as we were to late when we were in that neck of the woods.
What part of the cape? How is the traffic on the bridges?

-24 here this AM.
