I'm sorry, it obviously isn't a cooking piece but i haven't been able to figure out what it is. Maybe some of you have seen it before or something similar. Any help will do!! All suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance.

Hi Nathan....Welcome to the C.I.C. Have no idea what it is you're trying to I.D.
It will take more than the one picture to even make an educated guess.
Couple questions...Is it solid cast iron? Does it have holes in the bottom? Is the piece you're holding it by a hook? Does the rod screw into the ball? Does it have any writing/identification marks?
It appears to be some sort of counterweight but that's just a wild guess.
Good luck....

Unfortunately it's the only picture I have, my sister in law is trying to figure it out. Not sure if there are any more pictures, I will ask. It's one solid piece, there is a hook at the top. Around the middle of the ball there are 3 rivets, with a hole above each rivet. ( one can be seen in the picture). There are no markings on it. We have been guessing a counter weight. Also people have made the comment of possibly being a bell clapper.

if the ball is solid and heavy I bet it's for a bell. it's fairly light and hollow i dont think it would make the bell ding very well
