"Cast Iron Is Cool Again"

There's a short, very interesting and informative article in the October issue of The Costco Connection titled "Cast Iron Is Cool Again", written by Hana Medina. The subject of the article is Lodge Manufacturing.
In brief, the article goes over the history of Lodge from it's roots planted in 1896 by Joseph Lodge in So. Pittsburgh, Tennessee, as The Blacklock Foundry, through it's 4+ family generations of owners and managers, on to it's prospects for the future.
The article goes on to state how the company credits part of it's success to it's 2002 decision to "pre-season" their products. They're building a new distribution center and constructing a second foundry!
You can read the entire article by searching the title of this post and adding " - Costco ". Then just click on the "Costco connection" result. Enjoy!

Those are some huge, long buildings that will hopefully be employing many people for a long time to come! Future collectibles are being made there, including a DO consisting of a deep pot and shallow pan cover, both with matching over/under handles (don't know the name for that). Thank you for the photos, Doug!
