Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron - 1892 - Plated

This is a find that cleaned up very well. It's a double waffle iron / hotel waffle iron, "WAGNER", 1892. The odd thing, is that it is nickel plated. I can't find any mention of or record of a plated waffle iron from Wagner. 1892 is when they started plating, and 1894 when they started their aluminum line. This one passes the magnet test.

The handles were toast, so I had another collector turn me some new ones. I have the originals as well. The only missing plating is where the irons turn in the stand by the knobs and a small, small spot on an edge. Overall, immaculate quality. The interior I haven't scrubbed completely clean after it went into a long lye bath. A few spots I scrubbed out and they look great.

Can someone give me additional information on this? I'm wondering if this is a unicorn. I'm also curious about value, with this quality of plating, no reference of plated waffle irons from Wagner (other than toys), and a non-plated going for 250-500, what would this be worth?

Probably more than the $40 I spent on it. :p

Perhaps the original owner wanted it to be plated for use in an upscale setting. A request Wagner themselves certainly could have fulfilled.

WAttwod...Do you have any dimensions on your piece posted?
I'm looking thru a 1931 WW catalog and there is a catalog no. 1421 listing that has the dimensions of 10 3/4" x 11" that says twin waffle iron bakes six waffles.
In the BB (p.275) the c/n appears buts says its twin patterns, square pans, high base. I'm not sure which book is correct but the paper back book gives the description of six waffles which would match your piece.
Also on that same page the c/n of 1423 it says is a Hotel WI with gas stove, (double twin pattern).
On page 252 of the BB it shows a pic of the c/n 1421 with obvious lettering different from you piece making your piece much older than the 1421. I'm wondering if perhaps the base your piece sets on may be from the 1900-1910 era and not from the 1892 era. They could be the same base for all I know but it would be nice to know what the size of your piece is.
Thanks in advance.

I took photo measurements. The measurements in the BB don't appear to line up.
