![]() Does anybody know Descoware well enough to know if this is the correct handle? Thanks. https://i.imgur.com/d1boWIz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vAfRALw.jpg |

It is consistent with other images that I have seen with the wooden handles. It has the ring hook at the rear, tapering of the handle.
Nice find. It should clean up nicely just be careful in removing the handle. |

Thanks GTurner, I’m pretty happy with it so far. Took a lot of elbow grease to clean it up.
I was able to remove the handle without problems. It surprised me the way it attaches. I can’t decide if it ingenious or if they created a weak spot. Here it it after all cleaned up. https://imgur.com/gallery/gBzqpp9 |

Looks great! What did you use to clean it with?

First I scrubbed it thoroughly with Bar keepers friend. This softened it just enough to carefully scrape it with a razor blade - not the point but the middle of the blade. After a couple of hours of this I finished it off soaking it in a bigger pan with denture cleaning tablets overnight. All of this has a tendency to dull the finish. So I went through a short seasoning cycle on the stove with Crisco.

I have used the bottom sitting in a lye bath and I've used Diablo Carbon Kleen. The Diablo was originally purchased for an aluminum Dutch oven, but it does work on enameled also.
Both will dull the finish it you leave it in too long. |

GTurner - how do you restore the luster if the finish dulls during cleaning?

Great question. I don't know. I'm not sure you can.
