Re: Need help from fellow CI addicts
Find a Mac. Do command-shift-4 and copy anything on line. Open it and then save it as a jpeg (save-option). Sent it where you wish. Google and this site will be great sources.

Chili Hints
Making chili in a well seasoned cast iron vessel seems to be better than a SS pot or even enamel coated cast iron. I believe it is due to the savory flavoring already imbedded in the seasoning. If...

Re: Pop Corn
Before the meat for the chili was started in the cauldron today I made a batch of popcorn in it using melted bacon grease instead of oil. Popping time was a bit slower than with canola and there was...

Re: First gate marked find
I’m confused here. This appears to me be a recent (10 IN) (Import?) spider kettle, not a camp Dutch oven. It sure could use a lid but can be used on a stove top. I love mine.

Re: Pop Corn
If the vessel will fit in your oven, regular seasoning first. Think of the regular seasoning as the primer and a coat of oil from the popcorn as a very thin coat of paint.

Chili Cooking Day
As many of us have discovered, chili tastes best the second day and when it is cooked in cast iron. So get your well seasoned cauldron, Dutch oven or kettle out today and get started. Today is...

Re: New member here.
Maybe some of us less educated folks appreciate the whole story when we hone in on one aspect of our search, including part numbers. Especially when there are options like this example taken off...

Re: New member here.
Talk the talk! Sounds right to me. However, I wouldn't throw that out at a cocktail party.

Re: Pop Corn
No extra oil is required, although being generous on the kernels is OK. I wouldn’t put a coat on first as the whole vessel may not get hot enough to polymerize the oil. Just letting the explosions...

Re: Cast Iron Stove Eyes ?
I think one should learn to work with it as Nick has, not around it. One does not just turn up or down a cast iron wood stove or an open fire. We allow extra time for heating and cooling for cast...

Clean pictures over the stove. Boxes on the floor in front of the stove. No counter space.

Second vote for the stove. Too bad it isn't a user.

Re: How do I restore tinned meat grinder?
Get a bowl of 50/50 or stronger vinegar and clean the rust off with steel wool and a tooth brush. Wash as you would after use with Dawn. Put a thin coat of mineral oil on bare pieces by dipping &...

Re: weekend find
Now it looks like a cauldron/pot to me too. It seems it was called a cauldron long before the English started calling it a pot.
