Fun Restoration from a Couple Months Ago. (Warning: Rust!)

This was a $3 pickup, hey, only $3, it's worth...

Re: Big Eared #3

Doug speaks the truth.. Any time I think I know it all, I'm quickly humbled by an unmarked piece with characteristics I've never seen before. Might be the font on the size number, the handle, or...

Re: Seasoning a Muffin Pan, Help.

I've done a quite a few corn stick pans, and a couple waffle irons. I I wipe it on thick with a small section of sackcloth towel, then use Q-tips to wipe off the excess in the harder to get to...

Re: Lodge 3 Piece Bakeware Set 3BA2 (Boxed)

Glad I bought it.... Hmm That's a hard one. It's now another piece in my collection I didn't have before. Would I sell it along to someone or clean it up and gift it to a family member who I...

Re: #11 Dutch Oven is all dressed up with no where to go

I never find dutch ovens that are larger or smaller than No.8's around here. Then over the course of two weeks I found a No.10 Griswold with lid, and No.8  arc logo Lodge and a No,9 arc logo...

Re: The pan that started it all

My obsession started with a National/Wagner 1359 No.9 that my Mother gave me. Hundreds of pieces later and that one pan still never leaves the stove top. It's the perfect size for most anything.

Re: Lodge 3 Piece Bakeware Set 3BA2 (Boxed)

That's my set. That's exactly the way I bought it. I believe I paid $7 for it at a flea market. I would have liked for the box to be in better shape, but that's how it goes.

Re: Anything "NEW" in Cast Iron?

I pretty much expected the answers I got so far.

Question Anything "NEW" in Cast Iron?

I see these companies come and go selling "NEW" and "Improved" cast iron cookware. Is there anything actually 'NEW' or revolutionary -vs- what Lodge already offers or what you have been able to buy...

Re: Chip of the old block

I've heard this before.. I'm thinking it's like throwing a bag of marbles on the floor. It gives the eggs something to slide around on if your pan isn't as non-stick as you'd like it to be :?:

America's Test Kitchen is a pretty darn good recommendation. They test everything nine ways from Sunday.
I've read both positive and negative things about it, but I have yet to try it.

The whole edge of the paddles dipping below the hole in the top of a wood burning stove makes perfect sense. Thanks for the link.

Re: Where to search ...

If you're hitting the Goodwill, Salvation Army, stop... Rarely if ever there is anything there. You need to find some good independent thrift stores.

Re: Restored Waffle Irons with Photos Show & Tell

Nice!!!!! :icon_thumbsup: Like I said, I'm not really into waffle irons. (because I never usually find them in the wild) Should have known that DougD had already hooked us up with the info. Duh!

Re: Local find: Griswold #3 thru #10 collection

Hahaha... Until you spot a yard sale with some iron, a Craigslist ad that looks "interesting", or a neighbor who is getting rid of some rusty skillets.
To me, I would say that half of the fun of...
