Has anyone tried the new Dawn Power Wash? Is it the same as the old Dawn that we discontinued?

Re: I Think These Are Fakes. Help Please?

Alex A,

Griddles aren't used and abused like skillets. I have many old griddles that still have the swirl marks the finishing process. You make pancakes, heat tortillas, grilled cheese, etc in...

Re: What to Do with WKM Skillet

It's a great user. You might know of someone that wants a smooth surface cast iron skillet. You could gift it to them. The value isn't much. I gave away a WKM or similar skillet to a friend of mine...

Re: I Think These Are Fakes. Help Please?

This is how they were made in the 1800's early, early 1900's. If I see correctly, $7 for the #6 griddle and $13 for the #8 griddle, buy them. Great price.

You found a great place for really old...

Re: Braised Short Ribs

You can always keep an eye out for an older Le Cheque oops I mean Le Creuset lol. Most older enameled pieces have a few nicks in the enamel. Look for Le Creuset, Descoware, DRU Holland, Copco and...

Re: Braised Short Ribs

Mike_M,

If you ever decide to invest in an enameled DO, you will be able use acidic foods. Additional cost I know, but it does open up more possibilities.

Re: Lot of Griswold

Nice find! The lid may just be the best piece of the set. I can never find much Griswold in one place unless they want top dollar.

Re: An Interesting Question....

Why over pay if you don't have to. I try not to pay large amount of money on pieces. I don't necessarily only look for very inexpensive pieces either. If I find a piece that I want, I'll pay extra...

Re: Pieces from a Recent Estate Tag Sale

I would liked to have seen what was left. Nice haul. Gem pans will set you back a bit. Especially the really old ones, early 1900's and older.

Re: Pratt and Wentworth Skillet

Single pour spout, gate marked, identifiable, 1800's.... I would say that there is value there. He may never find another like it, without selling the house, car and wife lol

Re: Handy Dan Copy?

Kevin,
It could be from a first run to check quality or from the original ones made before they started producing them for that public.

The New Era WI looks very similar to my Fanner WI.

Re: Griswold Turks Head Pans #140 and #240

Serious PIA! I don't start on gem pans unless I have allot of time to spend. The last waffle iron I did made me love cleaning heavily crusted skillets lol.

Re: Is This Kettle/cauldron Too Far Gone, or Can It Be Restored? Is It Even Worth It?

You could do a reverse e-tank, using the cauldron as the tank and placing your metal suspended in the solution. It will clean the inside at least.

It looks like there might be small holes in it,...

I had a chance of buying one. It was more than I wanted to pay for it. Come to find out, it was a good price now that I've priced them.

Re: Seasoning Intricate Designs

No designs, but waffle irons, corn bread pans and gem pans are a pain to clean and season. I use a silicone pastry brush to get into the crevices, and I've used chopsticks to get into some spots....

Re: Collecting Vs Using

I've used about 80% of my pieces. The ones that haven't gotten used are primarily my enameled pieces. Over 140 pieces and counting.
