Re: How Much Ptting is Too Much on a User?

Thanks for replies.

That youtube link was something else, what with guy using sunflower oil on a rusted, pitted, non-restored skillet.

Going to give to my friend, with offer to take it back if...

Have a BSR 8 with an extremely well worn heat ring, and lots of pitting on the cooking surface. Will some/most of the pits fill in over time as it used?

Want to give to a friend to try out cast...

Re: "Preserving" CI Yard Art After De-rusting

I thought it might need a primer.

It is a 5-piece item and will require lots of brush work.

Have a CI Holden Steam Boiler stand in the E-tank.

Once all rust is off, I want to put something on that will preserve gray color and prevent future rusting (hopefully).

It will be placed in...

Re: Skillet Doesn't Fit in Electrolysis Tank

Nick - agree with your point about submerging item once, and probably going to spring for a larger container.

Ty - Thanks for sharing your experience.

Skillet Doesn't Fit in Electrolysis Tank

Any harm in removing rust in 2 passes, that is, do half of the pan in one pass, turn the skillet over and de-rust the other half?

As an aside, I can see I bought the wrong containers for lye and...

Re: Griswold No 8 Waffle Iron High Base - Questions

Jeff, thank you for sharing your experience with us.

What you describe makes perfect sense,

I really like the silicone baster idea. Not sure I would have thought of that one.

Re: Griswold No 8 Waffle Iron High Base - Questions

Jeff, speaking of cleaning and seasoning the waffle irons - do you have any words of wisdom that you are willing to share on oiling and wiping the waffle grid during seasoning? Thanks in advance.

Re: Griswold No 8 Waffle Iron High Base - Questions

Thanks KevinE,

When I google "japanning electrolysis", it returns hits on people restoring hand planers, and using electrolysis to remove japanning. They are dealing with much smaller surface...

Does that mean I got it right? :>)

I did not even notice that heat ring notch at 12 o'clock until I started reading the page on unmarked cookware.

Thank you very much.
