Re: Take a guess, one that I do not see often.

Jeffry, sometimes the four letter words are just parts of completely harmless words. Like the word "specialist". The filter see the middle part of of like this, "speCIALISt". What do YOU see there? ...

Re: Is there any way to get through to antique dealers?

A bunch of antique dealers here have resorted to paint, lacquer and varnish to "improve" the cast iron they have. Some even clean it reasonably well before the new finish but some just apply over the...

Re: What do you make of this bowl?

My gut tells me it's something industrial rather than cookware.

Re: Any idea on this skillets?

Not all Wagners have flat handles. I have an outside heat ring 1060 with a ridged handle.

Re: Don't Show, Just Tell

1. What is the first piece of cast iron cookware you actually owned?

First piece I owned was my mother's/grandmother's #10 Wagner heat ring skillet. Unfortunately, It cracked and I disposed of it...

Re: Griswold Waffle Iron

There's a high base waffle iron in my future ... somewhere. Just not sure how distant. lol Been on the lookout for one at a decent price for two years now. Around here, even the crappy ones are...

Re: BRAND NEW Wagner 11.75 skillet

lol When I'm too busy (lazy) to make corn bread from scratch, I reach for the Jiffy Mix too. Everyone I give it too loves it. Especially when in hunting camp in the Idaho mountains in October and...

Re: BRAND NEW Wagner 11.75 skillet

You can still buy these in a number of retail outlets as well as online.

While the name is the same, it is not the same CI. Another company simply bought the rights to the name.

Wagner Cast...

Re: Giving iron to people who need it....

Bonnie, you make a good point about what is missing from the diet of many poorer people. However, the people of Cambodia are hardly starving. They eat pretty well, if they eat anything like they did...

Re: Storage / Display

Just a gentle reminder ...

Your CI hanging system is only as strong as its weakest part/point.

I've seen massive racks and several pans come crashing down because someone hung the whole thing...

Re: ID help for unmarked skillet

I'd say more like '30s or '40s. Maybe even a bit earlier.

But that's just my semi-educated guess.

Nice skillet one way or another.

Re: What do you cook in your griddles?

I use my large rectangular griddle mostly while camping. I do bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, French toast ... whatever's for breakfast that can be done on a griddle.

In the house, I use a #9...

Re: Would anyone like a slice of pie?

I have 5 Pies. All #3, all 1053 F. They all have the same casting flaw pattern on the bottom and that's how I got started collecting them.

One day I'll branch out and get the other sizes. :-D

Re: Finex Cast Iron

Interesting but far too expensive. There's no way I'd pay even half what they ask. I'm betting they will stop making them in a few years ... if not sooner.

Re: Need an idea

One more thought, Hilditch ...

No one (except maybe you) says you have to give it all to just one person. You could, if you wish, spread it around ... like good, rich, creamy butter ... or...

Re: Crisco V. Not Going There

My maternal grandmother used lard for decades. Then She "discovered" Crisco. She still used lard in biscuits and pie crusts and such, bit Crisco is the only "fat" that melted in her fry pans.

When...

Re: What's for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

JB, when you say pone pan, are you talking about the one that looks like ears of corn or the one with triangular wedges? Or maybe the one some call a "stick" pan?
