Your Krum cake pan is in the Griswold section on p159 in the red book.

Andresen may have contracted with different foundries for some items, but there are about a dozen other Griswold...

Re: Cast Iron Aebleskiver Pan

The aebleskiver pan is Lodge. Lodge handles are inconsistent, so not great for identification. Fortunately they emblazoned their products with all kinds of other markings that usually make them easy...

Re: Electrolysis Tank Upkeep

Jody, can you please post a link for the graphite plates you use? Everything I see online is either very small or very expensive. Thanks!

Re: What is This Gigantic Thing?

Thanks Doug.
I didn't buy it yet. I have no real use for it, but it's so visually striking I may go get it anyway. I just have to come up with a place to put it that my wife will approve of!

Why...

Re: Is This a Matching Set?

It sold before I had a chance to return. But I remember it being smooth and flat. Would a Wagner have a defining characteristic under the tab?

Is This a Matching Set?

Looks like a Wagner lid, but I don't know about the DO.

Alchemy!

That second pic looks like a really gnarly sour beer fermentation.

Re: E-tank Time

What if it is left in the tank without the power on? Does the solution inhibit rust formation?

Mom's Basement Find

I can't believe I have one of these stories now. My mother never even cooked with cast iron.

Shortly after I started collecting, she said she would bring me a Griswold skillet from her basement...

Re: "Brilliant" Waffle Iron

So far I've determined that there was a Brilliant Iron & Steel Co. in Brilliant, Ohio that went out of business sometime between 1893 - 1895. I found a reference to a focus on bar iron (whatever that...

Re: Fire Damage?

No, just red on the bottom. Does it normally go all the way through?

"Brilliant" Waffle Iron

The pattern numbers make me think this was made by Griswold for another company, but I can find no factual information about it. Does anyone know the history here?

Fire Damage?

I've yet to see fire damage in person. This has a lot of dull red that doesn't look like rust, and a few shiny spots. I don't know what "scaly" would look like since again I've never seen it.

Re: Why Do You Like Vollrath?

I agree with CR about the balance and weight. I have a new (to me) unmarked 8 taking a bath that is going to replace my current standard user.

Also, they have a wicked giant spike on the handle....

Re: Newbie- Please Help with Cast Iron Recommendations

If you want to make omelets, using a 12" skillet will be frustrating. A #5 skillet (about 8") is the perfect size for a two egg omelet and should not cost much more than $15-20. Find an old one with...
