Re: Griswold Aebleskiver # 31 P/n 963 Rarity?

If it's marked "GRISWOLD NO 31" 363 " I would say it's worth the $45 asking price, Circ. date 1900-1930's, BB price has it at $150-$200 and assuming it is in very good condition I would jump on it.

Re: Gate Marked Oval Griddle

Looks like something that would set on a BSR Sportsman Grill but the resemblance stops there. The Portland Stove Co. in Maine made some pieces that married up to the Sportsman grill but they were not...

Re: My New #3

Here's a good link concerning the BSR pots and pans. You'll find it interesting and useful in your collecting ventures.

Re: Cleaning a Plated Skillet

If it were mine I would start by putting it in the lye tank and not be in any hurry to take it out. After a long soaking I would use a fine steel wool to see what all comes off and then assess...

Saturday Swap Meey Finds

Picked up a few treasures this morning at the local swap meet. Been on a dry spell here of late but today paid off. Everything (except the bowls) went in the lye tank so it will be some time before...

Re: HSB&Co

Did you by chance look on the bottom of the low "handled: base to see if it had a 975 number. It may have been marked Griswold....don't know that for a fact.

Re: How to Clean Le Creuset 24 with Wood Handle?

There's several post regarding the cleaning of enameled cast iron here under cleaning and seasoning. Here is one link referencing Dawn and baking soda.
We have done the boiling water and Dawn...

Re: Remove Wobble

In reality the cast iron cookware was never designed to be used on glass-top stoves. With that being said you may never get it to set completely flat. Might want to take a straight edge (metal being...

Re: Anybody Got Any Ideas for This One... Chicken Fryer with Lid with Raised Size on

BSR Century Series lids have a precise dimple pattern similar to the lid you have posted but not the same if you know what I mean.
Lodge made a Dutch Oven Skillet that had an assist tab similar to...

Re: Griswold Mail Box

Thanks D Madden....Guess I was trying to say that all the markings (numbers) correlate with the Griswold BB thus it should be authentic. But there again they could have been duplicated. If it is a...

Re: Lodge acquiring Finex

Makes sense to me...Buy out the competition was what Stanley tools did for almost 100 years. They're still doing it from what I can tell but as a merger with Black & Decker. When an independent...

Griswold Mail Box

Know this isn't cookware but wanted to get educated on the Griswold mail boxes if possible. Picked this one up almost a year ago in an auction that had several pans in a box so it was an extra so to...

Mentioned yesterday that we had found a #10 Piqua Ware skillet lid. Did some aggressive cleaning to it and here are a few pics that I wanted to share. Have never seen or run across a #10 lid of this...

Re: Past Weeks Find!

In the collectors circle it is referred to as the "Mercedes Skillet". Per the BSR data BSR was the only maker of CI that used capital letters (NO) for number and (IN) for inches on their CI so with...

Re: Who Was the Maker?

Need to post a few more pics showing the cooking surface and bail attachment to the griddle. Sometimes these small clues can help with identification. Pretty sure it's not a Griswold or Wagner.

Re: BSR Century?

As you said....early Century series. Probably around 1957 or shortly there after. BSR didn't initially put the NO in front of the size until the 60's.
It's a good pan. Clean it up and cook in it.
