Pineapple Pudding

This is actually a half batch, which fit nicely in my #6 Griswold. If you need more, double everything and put it in a #8 or #9 I'd think.

3 Eggs, beaten
1 scant cup sugar
1/2 lb butter, melted...

Re: Crisco vs Flax seed oil?

Funny to see this thread still going.

I'd done the flax seed thing and gave up on it shortly thereafter. I've been using Crisco, but I just got some beeswax and made a "puck" tonight. I wasn't...

Gifts from a colleague

A friend with whom I work, upon hearing about my new love for CI cooking, gave me these three skillets. They're too heavy for her, apparently.

I don't know much about Wagners, but I assume these...

Re: Anyone make CI Skillet brownies?

Um, whatever was on sale (I forget). Probably Duncan Hines...:-D

I will say that I always follow the recipe for fudge-like brownies (fewer eggs).

Re: #3 skillets

My kids like omelets, buts don't *love* them, so I make theirs in my #3s. It's the perfect size for them.

Also, I recently did this:

Lids

Folks,

I'd really like a lid for my Griswold #10. Does anyone know if any of the Lodge lids might fit it closely enough, or if something else might suffice? I'm more of a user than collector,...

Re: Bare pan soaks up oil

It was very dark, that's all. None of the other signs you mentioned. Like I said, I wiped oil on it, but didn't bake it. I'll throw it in the lye tank today before leaving and take a picture...

Bare pan soaks up oil

Folks,

I don't have extensive experience, but at this point I have stripped about 8 pans to bare metal using a lye tank and seasoned them from there.

This one #7 small logo Griswold feels...

Re: Universal Meat Grinder

Thanks, Doug. But definitely no e-tank, right?

Or should I just get a new meat grinder and keep this one for sentimental reasons? I hate the thought of rust in my burgers.

Universal Meat Grinder

Hi all,

A while ago, my dad gave me his mother's old meat grinder, which I'd love to use. The only problem is that it was left in his garage, and had rusted in some areas. I guess it was either...

Re: Crisco vs Flax seed oil?

When talking about seasoning in general, I think most people mean shortening when they say Crisco. I know I do. I don't even have any traditional vegetable oil on hand.

I've been doing the same...

Re: Anyone make CI Skillet brownies?

So I tried it tonight. The results were amazing. I lined the pans with coconut oil and baked them at 325.

Avocado oil on steak?

BJs had a big bottle of avocado oil for $10, so I bought some yesterday, along with some sirloin steaks.

I usually prepare the steaks by covering them with olive oil and cracked pepper, then...

Don't forget coconut oil, avocado oil, cod liver oil, castor oil, motor oil, garg oil, etc. etc.

Seriously though, Billy. Your OP was the equivalent of saying "Coke vs. Pepsi. Discuss..."...

Re: Anyone make CI Skillet brownies?

I chickened out at the last minute. I need to practice with it before I go all in on Christmas Day, lol.

Earlier in the day I'd done some bacon in my new #5, because I've heard that bacon is a...

Today's antique shop purchase

Overpriced I'm sure, but I was hoping to find a #5 at some point, and the small logo matches my other pans. They were running a 25% off sale, so I didn't bother haggling.

I want to use it on...

Re: Anyone make CI Skillet brownies?

I've all but abandoned the use of non-stick spray. I generally use coconut oil these days. It works pretty well.

Anyone make CI Skillet brownies?

I'm in charge of dessert for four adults and five kids on Christmas day! I wanted to do something like this:

Re: Question about cleaning

That may simply be because I haven't used it long enough. Doug didn't say how long after using flax seed oil it began to chip. I've only used the pans about four or five times so far.

I bought...

Re: Question about cleaning

Okay, now I understand things better.

As Doug said, it's difficult to judge people's tone sometimes. And being in IT, I've gotten used to a certain level of arrogance among the more experienced...
