As Found... Griswold Handle Griddle #9....

Today at the Thrift.... thought it was worth the $10
asking. Should be an easy clean up. No obvious flaws.
A nice find.

Charles, that's a great find. The price is right.

GT... Thanks, I thought so also....

Doesn't seem the small logo Griswold get the fan base
or financial appreciation associated with most of the other
Griswold logo cast iron. This handle griddle seems to have
most of the good Griswold qualities... no cracks, sits flat,
no wobble or spin. I wasn't going to pass at $10. If I had
one observation.... it is definitely a two hander. Stout build ,
could have used a tab opposite the handle.... especially when
working with glass top cookstoves. :o

After action report.... a keeper. Has rapidly become the go to
cast iron for bagels, toast, grill cheese, scrambled eggs, hash
browns, etc. . If you come across one with a mirror like cook
surface pick it up !!! No regrets. :icon_thumbsup:

CDLaine, do you have any pictures after cleaning? I have a #9 Griswold slant logo griddle, and it is great except for sulphur pitting on the bottom. Griddles usually clean up very easily.

GTurner...

Step one... get the brides permission to skip the lye bath.
(until after use to see if worth the effort). So, scrub with
enthusiasm and green pad and soap. Amazed at how smooth
the cook surface is... have not noticed sulphur pits on base.
May get the lye bath at some point (and re-seasoning) but
for now this is a very functional piece of cast iron. Food slides
easily... no hang ups.I did learn that the heat transfer to the
cooking surface is almost instantaneous and requires lower cooking
temps than would be expected.

Photos not great but indicate a quality cooking surface. Not
pretty but practical.... and, most importantly Bride endorsed. :glutton:
