Just picked up an old cast iron pot, without lid and was looking to identify the maker and age. it is 9-3/4" diameter ate flared top and 6-1/2" deep. Has very distinctive ears for bail handle. Only has markings on the bottom, B T 8. with external heat ring on very outer edge of the bottom.

Any one know the maker and/or CIRCA on this one?

Older bottom gated pans without maker's names are likely to be copies by someone using an actual pan for their pattern. Since parts like bail attachments like this would have been a hinged or removable part of an actual pattern, the copiers would have had to improvise and create their own method for adding them. This would likely mean removing the attachments from the original pan and fabricating something themselves, to work within the constraints of sand casting.

If a copy of an actual pan, any time after that pan was made. But probably late 1800s.
