Seasoning "disappears"?

Ok. So I bought a few pieces the other day and after the E -Tank and a swim in the L-Tank, I seasoned and put in oven.
However the seasoning appears to disappear no matter how many coats I put on.
Iron doesn't turn darker either after seasonings and the pans just look like they're bare metal.

I haven't tried cooking on one, because I was scared lead may be the culprit.

Any ideas out there?

I season my CI on the gas grill. Early on, I found out that max burner was too hot. I just happen to have an infrared thermometer. I adjusted the flames to give the CI a temp of just over 500ºF while in the gas grill.

Just theorizing. You said "cooking on" not "in", so I surmised they might be griddles. Vintage ones are often so highly polished they're too slick to get a seasoning to stick. Kind of like those who use grinders to polish modern Lodge skillets into mirrors find out.
