Retiring a Lodge Griddle

Carolyn bought this Lodge gridle at WalMart. First time she used it the food stuck to the pan. I did the e-tank treatment, double seasoning Corn oil, and used it several times for eggs only. After a few times it was working great. Then two areas started sticking again. 3-4 more uses and it kept getting worse. Scrubbed it good with soap and water, then the e-tank for 2 days, back through the seasoning only with pure lard this time, 425° for 1.5 hours. Oven cooled between seasonings. Back in use, low heat on a gas stove, then up to second lowest setting, fried two eggs. Both stuck in the same place as before. After clean and holding th pan at an angle in the light you can see the two areas have a slightly different look to them. Put on a coat of light oil, wiped it down good and it went on the display rake and tagged as a sticker. Trying an older Wagner this morning. Some pans were just not made to cook in.

Went back to an old Wagner that was chrome plated at one time. Has a low spot dead center. How or when that got there is unknown. Have used it for a week now to fry my 2 eggs for breakfast and went to using lard. No sticking of any kind so far. I cook the bacon in the microwave on a paper towel to soak up the grease and save a mess in the microwave.
