Questions W M C Co NY Wm Crane Co ? Waffle NO 76 High Base

Picked this waffle up with a Wagner 1892 at auction a couple days ago and was wondering if someone could shed some light on the W M C Co piece ? I've read that there is a possible connection to early Griswold ? I've seen several gas irons and other cast iron pieces by the company. Haven't found much info. Paddles numbered x977 & x976
Dose anyone know if repo handles are available ?

Like they did for a few others, Griswold made waffle irons for Crane, a gas stove and appliance company founded in the late 19th century. The bail handle is not original; high bases with bails would have attachments at the top rim. Those seen online have coil handles, so probably no repros. Older style wooden handles could be fabricated from dowels.
