Old # 7 with ‘JP’ Initials

I had this one given to me by a friend . It belonged to her father , a primative camping fan ,who passed away a few years ago . She wanted his things to continue to be used and knew that I would ‘carry on’ and appreciate his collection .

I am sure this is my oldest skillet yet , and only needs some minor TLC to be in great shape . Note the “crooked” 7 on handle .

I think D Madden may have one also .

Is this a (dare I say it) Blacklock ?

I wish I had more info on it , Doug . I had it and three other pieces given to me by a co-worker who was cleaning out a garage that belonged to her father who passed away a few years ago . He was a mountain man re-enactor / primative camper .

I hunt here in Ky with Longhunter era muzzleloaders and like campfire cooking and the ‘old school’ stuff ,and she knew I would appreciate the skillets .

Im sure the old gentleman picked them up at ‘trade blanket ‘ type swap meets at the rendevous’ he camped at .

So far ,the “ bunch of old junk skillets “ has contained a beautiful unmarked Wagner # 5 (PICS POSTED) , the JP , and a nice little gate marked #7 griddle with sorta fancy handle that I will put pictures of up .

Im sure the Old Hunter knew exactly what he had , and would be proud of you and I for showing some interest in his pieces .

Yep, I have her twin sister. Bought it for the handle design and gate mark, plus I like griddles anyway... Mine was a complete rust bucket . I cleaned it the best I could.... Neat piece. I live in Louisville, but have hunting property off 210 south of Hodgensville. I'm in that neck of the woods quite a bit. Thanks for posting it!
