Need Help With Marking Positions

Where are the 12-3-6 and 9 o'clock positions ? Handle up or down! THANKS

Traditionally, with handle pointing down on a skillet, since most makers inscribed their markings to be read in that position. On other pieces, just when holding so the markings are legible/upright.
