Starting to clean out an old small house we used for storage back 23 years ago when we moved out here. Going through things Carolyn found this old Griswold #8 cast iron skillet. Neither one of use remember where it came from.

Above photos as she found it. Put it in the electroless about 1:00 pm yesterday and took it out about 6:30 this morning. Lot of scrubbing with SS wire ,brush and SS scrub pad in warm soapy water. Dried it off in a towel and put in the oven to finish drying. Then oiled it and in the oven at 400° for 1-1/4 hours and left there to cool. Another light coat of oil and wiped down and this is how it came out. Will season it again before use or call it good if it is not used.

There was some pitted rust on the center bottom outside around the Griswold logo with the worse right on the "R" . Won't bother a thing for use. As this skillet is a lot lighter than my others Carolyn just might use this one, - - might !

The pitting on the logo is from use over a sulfur-containing heating fuel source. The same pan from my grandmother exhibits the same damage.

This the skillet that got me hooked on CI. Griswold #8 LBL.....and I got a #3 that day too. Now, Im hooked, have about 100 pieces.

Seasoned it again yesterday. May give it a try in the morning just for the heck of it. Like using the griddle a lot better for eggs, hash browns, etc.
