Ever heard of a "PENNELLS" brand? Help ID'ing (and repairing) a 4 gallon cauldron

Hi!

I've always been into collecting/restoring things, and have cleaned and re-seasoned more than a few old skillets. But I picked up this oddity on a whim. It appears to be labeled "PENNELLS" on one side, and "PFNNELLS" on the other, though I think that was a casting issue or just where and tear where the bottom of the first E is missing. 3 Legs, the casting seam runs vertical across so I don't think it's THAT old (we find some really old ones in New England). But I can't find anything at all about "PENNELLS" online. Does anyone have any ideas where this may have come from? It says #4 on the pot and the lid, which given the size has to mean 4 gallon.

Follow-up: Is there a recommended way to fix the chip on the lid? I have the 2 missing pieces that fit really nice. I don't have a welder. I was thinking of hitting the area with wire wheel, acetone, and then JB weld. But I'm open to other input. I can solder pipes but not sure if cast iron would be much harder or if heating would risk damage elsewhere.

Thanks in advance!! Really good info on this forum so far.

Haven't seen that name before. I see one similar sold on Facebook marketplace recently. In Pretoria, South Africa.

Interesting. Could you provide a link? I tried searching within 100m of Pretoria and "sold" listings but didn't find it.

Disregard, I found it. A different, more modern looking logo but definitely "PENNELLS". Funny it was all the way in South Africa.

Any thoughts on repairing? I have the missing chips. Like I said I don't weld, so wondering if soldering is common on cast iron like this? Or maybe a really good prep and JB weld?
