Default Skillet with Gate Mark Any Ideas on Maker?

I picked up this skillet the other day. Almost didnt buy it because it didnt have a makers mark and it felt kind of light. I looked it up trying to describe the scar on the bottom. They say its a gate mark. It weighs about 3lbs 11oz. Any ideas on when this is from or who made it?

The pan looks like one that shouldn't have a bottom gate. That observation, plus the casting roughness on the handle would point towards a recast. IDing a maker is unlikely if not impossible.
