J.GIBSON? Colette from AZ

Hello, everyone.
I just recently started looking into cast iron goods and really appreciate the information on this website. I recently saved a large pot from a junk pile. I cannot find anything in my searches to help me determine when and where it may have been made.

The raised lettering on the bottom is J.GIBSON'S.PAT JAN 1657 And could you tell me what to call it? Is it a cauldron or a bean pot or ?? It stands about 9" high and is 10" in diameter at the top. The inside is deeply pitted - I think it sat outside and collected water - but the outside is in great shape.

Thank you so much for any insight you can give me.

I am having trouble attaching another picture, But it has a large wire handle across the top and a small handle for pouring on the side.

Hi Colette,
I don't know anything about your pan except it looks like a cool find. I'm in AZ also. I look forward to seeing more pictures. Bonnie
