$5 find at the thrift store last week. Heavily crudded pan was obviously an old timer. Couple days in the etank stripped it clean but to my surprise revealed an absolutely unmarked pan except for the number 8 on the handle. Very smooth cooking surface and perfectly flat bottom so planning to use this as everyday cooker. Just wondering if anyone has any idea on the maker?

Numeral kinda looks more like a 5 or a 6. If top diameter is ~ 10.5" it would be an 8. Degree of casting imperfection on the handle tells us it's not an unmarked by a major maker, but probably a copy using another pan (with its original markings obscured) as the basis for the pattern. Made well enough, though, not to be a backyard one-off; more likely a small under-capitalized unknown foundry trying to make a buck.
